Last summer I was visiting Japan with my family. Having visited the land of the rising sun several times already, each and every visit still convinces me of the uniqueness of this country. Especially I like the way how the Japanese connect its tradition with ultra modern technologies... And I must admit that my family liked it as well. Apart from visiting main sites in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Nara, obviously I couldn't resist from spending a few hours taking airplane pictures, also taking into account the fact that unlike any other country, Japan normally provides good aircraft viewing opportunities at its airports.

One of the airports I managed to visit was old airport in Osaka - Itami, which used to be the city's prime airport before opening Kansai International Airport located at artificial island in Osaka Bay. Getting to Itami by public transport wasn't complicated at all. As Japan has efficient transport system I simply took a local train that brought me to a mall located ca. 25 mins walk from Itami Sky Park that offers great view to the 14R/32L runway as well as gives you an idea what is going around other parts of the airport. As you can see from pictures posted below, the traffic during my visit consisted mainly of local airlines predominated by ANA and JAL and its affiliates. I must admit that I liked the nice mixture of regional planes as well as widebodies serving local routes. Also, as during my visit Osaka was hosting EXPO 2025, I managed to catch an JAL Boeing 737-800 and J-Air Embraer 190 promoting the event.
