“Dad, what are you doing when you must wait at the airport? Aren’t you bored?” asked me few years ago my daughter who was around nine at that time. “Not at all” I replied. “Usually, I’m watching planes and sometimes I’m taking a few photos around”. “I see…” she looked at me understandingly and said nothing more.
My work requires me to travel a lot. This actually means that I’m spending quite a lot of time at different airports. Naturally, not all of them are spotter-friendly, however typically I’m able to find a place where at least I have a nice view. This year I had a chance to transfer several times at the new Istanbul Airport. It is a real place where East meets West. Apart from numerous Turkish Airlines planes, visitors from all over Europe, Middle East and former USSR countries can be seen at LTFM. If you’re lucky enough, you may find a spot where you can catch your favorite aircraft without any obstacles. However, you’ve got to be aware that at gates at different fingers are typically in use, so you may be not quick enough to catch all your highlights during one visit.
Below you may see a few of my recent catches from LTFM. Late afternoon shots, predominated by Turkish Airlines aircraft, were taken at the domestic pier, while majority of other come from boarding gates “B”.
Fajny zestawik.
