Christmas time is a good moment to follow up with photos taken over the past year as well as to recall its best moments. Therefore, once all the family gatherings ended, I took a brief look at some shots taken during our summer vacation in SE Asia and realized that even though Kuala Lumpur wasn't our main destination, last August we transited there several times. This allowed me to take a few photos at WMKK airport.

Taking into consideration air fares, we have chosen AirAsia as the main carrier for transiting between different cities in Malaysia. The airline provides reasonable level of service, but unfortunately timings of our flights were changed several times, while two of them were significantly delayed. While waiting for the departure at KLIA T2, which is the home of AirAsia, I used the "gift of time" received from the airline for plane spotting at its western balcony. It allowed me to catch a few special liveries of the airline. Great thing about this spot is that it is free of charge and nobody (including the police) really cares about picture taking. The only disadvantage - if you don't smoke - is the fact that it is also used heavily by smokers, so spotting may include rather unhealthy inhalations.

Shortly before final departure back home (actually I was flying to Japan, while my family flew already to Europe), I also wanted to visit the Anjung spotter observation deck, which is recognized as an official spotting area at the airport. As it is located within quite a distance from the terminal, I took a grab taxi to get there. I was a bit surprised to learn that the taxi driver had no clue about this spot, but luckily with the assistance of Google maps, we manage to find it. I stayed there for few hours, however I wasn't really happy with runway usage direction as during my visit it was solely used for departures. Therefore I got there only a few shots that I really liked as most planes were already too high for a good picture. Anyway - hopefully the spot will be used for landings during my next visit in indefinite future.
