Spotting down under

Far far away... this is what I always thought about Australia. Ten years ago I visited New Zealand and still can recall the length of that trip. Nevertheless, when I got an opportunity to go to Sydney, I said - I'm on it and ... I packed my camera and got on the plane down under.
At YSSY I spent some time using the opportunity to visit different spotting locations. The beach was the first place I went to. It was a bit sultry afternoon when I got there, but the view was awesome. However, for picture taking I preferred a newly constructed official viewing platform, located just next to the airport tower. It was absolutely great for morning traffic where you can catch majority of movement. During one of the afternoons, I also went along the canal and found a nice photo position close to a bike path offering limited view to 16R arrivals.
Even though plane spotting wasn't the primary reason for my trip, I must admit that I enjoyed views of YSSY airport. I managed to catch not only a good variety of Australian traffic, but also quite a few international carriers flying down under. See a modest selection of my photos from YSSY below.
