Two months ago I had an opportunity to pay a quick visit at Phuket island. Even though I stayed there just 48 hours, I used the chance to take some photos at the holiday island airport. My first – and pretty obvious – choice was the famous Nai Yang Beach where I spent whole morning. On the other day, as I was free in the afternoon only, I went to “8/5 Café” to enjoy the taxiway and runway view with a drink before the sunset. Shortly prior departure, I also made a few photos from the boarding gate area, however I did not enter the observation deck as the access to the terrace was limited.

I must admit that I really liked my short time at VTSP airport as having visited it almost 6 years earlier, the traffic nicely changed. As I do like the regional planes, I was happy to catch Bangkok Air’s ATRs, however I was a bit disappointed with Russian traffic (which was predominated by Aeroflot’s widebodies) and lack of Air Asia’s colorful liveries (perhaps I was just a bit unlucky this time). Nevertheless all other stuff was great – including Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines narrow body planes and my favorite Embraer 190 of Myanmar Airways International.

Oh… for those willing the visit Phuket shortly I’ve got a few hints:

1.      Note that in March the runway use direction changes between 1200 and 1400 hrs (at least that was the case during my visit)

2.      Entrance to the Nai Yang Beach is charged (can’t recall how much, but it wasn’t a fortune)

3.      There are a few nice hotels and street food restaurants just south of the airport within walking distance from the beach
